Regular-season champion Troy closed the door on No. 10 seed Georgia Southern’s five-day run, pulling away for a 77-61 victory in the championship game of the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Monday night.
Georgia Southern entered the final as the tournament’s No. 10 seed and had strung together wins over the previous five days to reach the title game. Troy, which had already established itself as the league’s top team in the regular season, delivered a decisive finish in the final to secure the conference tournament crown.

The 16-point win underscored Troy’s control in the championship matchup, as it prevented Georgia Southern from completing its underdog run and ensured the regular-season leader also left the tournament with the title.
