Michigan State is finalizing a deal to hire Western Michigan athletic director Dan Bartholomae as its new athletic director.
Bartholomae has been leading Western Michigan’s athletic department and is now positioned to take over one of the Big Ten’s prominent athletic programs. The move would place him in charge of Michigan State athletics, including its men’s and women’s basketball programs, football program and broader department operations.
The hire marks a significant administrative step for Michigan State as it looks to establish new leadership at the top of its athletic department. Once completed, Bartholomae’s appointment would bring a sitting Division I athletic director into the role.
