LeBron James did not commit to what comes next after his record-setting 23rd NBA season ended with the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff elimination.

The Lakers fell 115-110 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4, completing a second-round sweep and bringing an abrupt close to James’ latest postseason run. After the loss, James was noncommittal when asked whether he would continue playing in Los Angeles, continue his career elsewhere or step away from the game.

Uncertain ending to a historic season

James’ 23rd season set a new benchmark for longevity, adding another milestone to one of the most accomplished careers in basketball history. But the campaign ended without a win in the second round, as the Thunder closed out the series in four games.

Following the defeat, James said he did not know what the future holds, leaving his next move unresolved at the end of the Lakers’ season. For now, the only certainty is that Los Angeles’ postseason run is over after a tightly contested Game 4 loss that sealed the sweep.
