Kendrick Perkins has agreed to become the general manager of the Jackson State men’s basketball program.
The role adds Perkins, a former NBA center and well-known basketball analyst, to the leadership structure of the Tigers’ men’s basketball operation. His position will place him in a front-office-style role at the college level as Jackson State continues to build its program.
Perkins’ move reflects the growing trend of college basketball programs adding general manager positions to help oversee roster construction and program operations in the modern era of the sport.
Jackson State competes in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and has continued to seek ways to strengthen its men’s basketball infrastructure. Perkins’ addition gives the program a recognizable basketball figure with extensive experience around the game.
