North Carolina freshman Caleb Wilson will miss the remainder of the season after breaking his right thumb during practice, the school announced.
The school said Wilson will undergo surgery on the thumb, ruling him out for the rest of the year. Wilson had emerged as a key piece for UNC in his first season with the program.
What it means for North Carolina
Wilson’s absence leaves the Tar Heels without one of their top newcomers as they move through the closing stretch of the season. The team will now have to adjust its rotation and responsibilities following the loss of a player who had become an important contributor.
