Paul George scored 38 points in his Celtics debut Tuesday, but Boston could not hold off Detroit in a 121-113 loss to the Pistons.
George’s 38 points were the most by any player in his first game as a Celtic. The performance also ranked as the fifth-highest scoring total by a player in his debut with an NBA franchise.
Despite the historic individual showing, George dismissed the idea of taking consolation from the result.
“I'm not a moral victory guy,” George said.
