Former NBA standout Monta Ellis has been named general manager at Alcorn State for the upcoming season, the school announced Friday.
Ellis, a longtime NBA guard, brings more than a decade of professional playing experience to the program. His appointment marks a notable move for Alcorn State, adding a former high-level pro to its basketball operations structure.
Ellis entered the NBA without playing college basketball and went on to build a lengthy career in the league. He was known during his playing days as a dynamic scorer and backcourt presence.
A New Role in College Basketball
In his new position, Ellis will serve as general manager for Alcorn State this season. The school did not announce additional details about the scope of his responsibilities in the initial announcement.
