The Knicks handled Cleveland 109-93, Minnesota overwhelmed Toronto 100-72 and Real Madrid cleared Valencia 105-90 on a loaded May 22 schedule that stretched across the NBA, WNBA and Euroleague.
The eight-game slate was defined by separation. Five winners finished with double-digit margins, including Olympiacos’ 79-61 Euroleague win over Fenerbahce and Atlanta’s 86-69 victory against Dallas. Golden State’s WNBA day split in opposite directions: an 87-70 win at New York Liberty W followed by a 90-82 loss at Indiana.
NBA: Knicks Put Cleveland Away
New York delivered the lone NBA result of the night, beating Cleveland 109-93. The Knicks created a 16-point cushion and held the Cavaliers below the century mark, a combination that points to control on both ends rather than a late-game escape.
For New York, the result stands out because of its efficiency in game management. The Knicks did not need a narrow finish or a high-scoring track meet. They dictated the terms, kept Cleveland from matching pace and closed with a margin that reflected sustained command.
WNBA: Lynx Set the Tone, Valkyries Split Two
Minnesota produced the most lopsided WNBA result of the slate, beating Toronto 100-72. The Lynx were the only team on the women’s schedule to reach 100 points, and the 28-point margin was the widest across all eight games.
Golden State opened with one of the night’s sharper road performances, defeating New York Liberty W 87-70. The Valkyries held New York to 70 points and won by 17, a strong response in a matchup that required defensive consistency and enough half-court execution to keep separation.
Later, Indiana answered Golden State with a 90-82 win. The Fever reached 90 points and protected home court in an eight-point result, preventing the Valkyries from turning the night into a clean sweep.
Los Angeles added another road win, beating Phoenix 97-88. The Sparks had enough scoring punch to stay in front through the finish, while Phoenix’s 88 points were not enough to offset the defensive pressure of conceding 97.
Atlanta rounded out the WNBA schedule with an 86-69 win over Dallas. The Dream held the Wings under 70 and won by 17, matching Golden State’s margin over New York Liberty W and reinforcing a night where defensive floors mattered as much as scoring bursts.
Euroleague: Olympiacos and Real Madrid Make Clear Statements
Olympiacos delivered the most defensive-minded Euroleague result of the day, beating Fenerbahce 79-61. Holding Fenerbahce to 61 points created the foundation for an 18-point win and gave Olympiacos one of the strongest two-way performances on the slate.
Real Madrid took a different route, leaning into offensive pressure in a 105-90 win at Valencia. Madrid was one of two teams across the full schedule to reach triple digits, joining Minnesota, and its 105 points were the highest total of the day.
