Knicks coach Mike Brown had high praise — and a pointed observation — for Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander after New York’s 103-100 loss to Oklahoma City on Wednesday night.

“SGA, he’s a tough cover, and he does a great job of convincing the referees — probably better than anybody in the league — that he’s getting hit,” Brown said following the game.

Brown’s comments came in the aftermath of a tightly contested, three-point finish, with the Knicks coming up just short on the road against the Thunder.

A difficult assignment

Brown described Gilgeous-Alexander as a challenging player to defend, emphasizing both his ability to create problems for defenders and his effectiveness in drawing contact in the eyes of officials.

The Knicks and Thunder played to the wire, but Oklahoma City held on for the 103-100 win, leaving New York to reflect on the narrow defeat and the challenges posed by Gilgeous-Alexander’s style of play.
