Illinois standout David Mirkovic underwent an emergency appendectomy Saturday night, adding another medical setback ahead of the season.
Mirkovic already had offseason foot surgery, which is expected to sideline him at the start of the season. The appendectomy marks an additional interruption to his preparation as Illinois approaches the opening stretch of its schedule.
