The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a one-year, $2.8 million deal with forward Mario Hezonja, bringing the former lottery pick back to the NBA after several seasons overseas.
Hezonja, the No. 5 overall selection in the 2015 NBA Draft, last played in the league during the 2019-20 season. Since then, he has continued his career in Europe, where he has been a standout performer in EuroLeague competition.
Former Lottery Pick Returns to NBA
The agreement gives Cleveland another experienced option as the franchise adds a player with both NBA and high-level international experience. Hezonja entered the league with significant expectations after being selected fifth overall and now returns following a productive stint abroad.
The deal is for one season, providing the Cavaliers with a short-term addition as they continue shaping their roster.
