Arkansas will honor one of the most significant figures in its men’s basketball history with a permanent tribute outside Bud Walton Arena.
The school announced Wednesday that a statue of former head coach Nolan Richardson will be built outside the arena. Richardson, who guided the Razorbacks to the 1994 national championship, will be commemorated with the installation as part of the program’s on-campus legacy.
A championship legacy
Richardson’s tenure included the program’s 1994 title run, a defining moment for Arkansas basketball and one of the high points in the school’s athletic history. The planned statue will serve as a public landmark recognizing that achievement and Richardson’s impact on the Razorbacks.
No additional details were provided in the announcement regarding a timeline for completion or a formal unveiling.
