Milwaukee didn’t win this one with early rhythm. It won it with a response — and one quarter that changed the entire night.
The Bucks (21-29) beat the Pacers (13-39) 105-99 on Friday at Fiserv Forum, using a dominant middle stretch to erase an early deficit and then withstand a furious fourth-quarter Indiana rally.
Game flow: Milwaukee’s middle quarters decide it
Indiana came out sharp, taking the first quarter 29-23 and controlling tempo early. Milwaukee answered in the second, winning 31-18 to grab a seven-point halftime lead at 54-47.
The biggest separation came after the break. The Bucks won the third quarter 29-18, stretching the margin to 83-65 and putting the game on their terms.
Indiana had one more punch. The Pacers exploded for 34 points in the fourth — more than either team scored in any other period — but Milwaukee’s cushion from the third-quarter surge held up just enough to finish the job.
Turning point: The third-quarter squeeze
This game swung when Milwaukee tightened the screws in the third. A 29-18 quarter didn’t just add points — it changed the math. Indiana entered the fourth needing a near-perfect offensive finish to climb out, and even a 34-point closing quarter couldn’t fully erase the damage.
Team notes: Even passing, different results
Both teams finished with 26 assists, a sign the ball moved on both sides. The difference was when that creation translated into separation: Milwaukee’s assist-driven offense steadied the second quarter and created the runway in the third; Indiana’s best stretch came late, when the deficit was already steep.
What it means going forward
For Milwaukee, the win continues a positive run of form and offers a template: survive the uneven start, then win the middle of the game with sustained two-way pressure. At 21-29, stacking results matters, and this one came via the kind of quarter-to-quarter control that’s been inconsistent this season.
For Indiana, the late surge showed fight — but the Pacers’ margin for error is thin at 13-39. The second and third quarters (a combined 36 points) left them with too much to do, even with a fourth-quarter burst that nearly turned the night into a steal.
