Former Tennessee guard Zakai Zeigler filed an amended lawsuit Tuesday challenging the NCAA’s previous eligibility policy that limited athletes to four seasons of competition within a five-year period.
The amended filing points to the NCAA’s recent sweeping changes to its eligibility rules as support for Zeigler’s argument against the association’s former framework. His case centers on the prior rule structure that restricted how long college athletes could compete, regardless of broader changes now being made to eligibility standards.
Zeigler, a former Volunteer, is seeking to bolster his challenge by referencing the NCAA’s own shift in policy. The lawsuit adds to ongoing legal scrutiny surrounding college sports eligibility rules, an area that has faced increasing challenges as the NCAA continues to adjust its regulations.
