Friday’s WNBA slate delivered five results with a clear split: one possession drama in Phoenix, high-end scoring in Toronto and three decisive wins elsewhere.
Indiana’s 92-89 road win over Phoenix stood as the night’s closest result, while Dallas produced the top offensive total of the slate in a 108-95 victory at Toronto. Atlanta, Las Vegas and Golden State each controlled their matchups by margins of at least eight points.
Fever survive in Phoenix
Indiana Fever W earned the night’s most important late-game result, beating Phoenix Mercury W 92-89 on the road. In a game decided by three points, Indiana’s ability to generate just enough separation gave the Fever the defining close win of the slate.
Phoenix reached 89 points but still came up short at home, making this one of the sharper offensive games on the board. The Fever’s 92 points were tied for the second-highest winning total Friday, trailing only Dallas.
Wings outscore Tempo in Toronto
Dallas Wings W delivered the most explosive performance of the night, beating Toronto Tempo W 108-95. It was the only game on the slate in which a team crossed the 100-point mark, and Dallas needed that pace to put away a Toronto side that still reached 95.
The 203 combined points made it the highest-scoring matchup of the evening. Dallas’ 13-point margin also reflected more than shot-making volume; the Wings sustained enough offense to keep Toronto from turning a productive scoring night into a tighter finish.
Dream handle Storm at home
Atlanta Dream W beat Seattle Storm W 89-78, pairing one of the night’s stronger offensive totals with an 11-point home win. Atlanta’s 89 points matched Phoenix’s output, but the Dream created a much cleaner result by holding Seattle to 78.
For Seattle, the issue was not a total collapse but a lack of matching firepower. In a slate where several winners pushed into the high 80s and beyond, 78 points left the Storm chasing the game.
Aces take care of Portland
Las Vegas Aces W defeated Portland W 88-80, securing an eight-point road win. The Aces did not need the night’s biggest scoring number, but 88 points provided enough cushion to keep Portland at arm’s length.
Portland reached 80, a competitive offensive baseline, but Las Vegas finished with the cleaner margin. In a game separated by single digits, the Aces’ ability to stay ahead offensively defined the result.
Valkyries win convincingly in Connecticut
Golden State Valkyries W produced one of the slate’s most decisive outcomes, beating Connecticut Sun W 79-64 on the road. The 15-point margin tied Dallas for the largest win of the night.
Unlike the Dallas-Toronto shootout, this was built on containment. Connecticut’s 64 points were the lowest total by any team Friday, and Golden State turned that defensive control into a comfortable road result.
