Across 17 games on Nov. 2, the basketball calendar split between two NBA matchups and a 15-game NCAA slate that featured decisive home performances, notable road wins and one two-point finish.

The NBA portion stayed in California, where the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 124-112 and the Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Toronto Raptors 131-125. The college schedule had a wider range of game scripts, from Nicholls State’s 110-56 win over North American Stallions to Grambling St.’s 89-87 edge over Northern Illinois.

NBA: Warriors and Lakers win at home

Golden State handled Los Angeles Clippers 124-112, creating separation with a 12-point margin in a game that reached 236 combined points. The Warriors’ 124 points marked the higher output of the two NBA winners on the night.

The Los Angeles Lakers beat Toronto Raptors 131-125 in the highest-scoring game of the full slate. The six-point margin reflected the tightest NBA result of the night, with the Lakers needing 131 points to close out a Raptors team that still reached 125 on the road.

NCAA: Nicholls State posts the night’s largest margin

Nicholls State delivered the most lopsided result, beating North American Stallions 110-56. The 54-point margin stood as the largest of the 17-game slate and one of four NCAA games decided by at least 39 points.

Hofstra also controlled its matchup from start to finish, defeating St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) 97-51. Middle Tenn. St. beat Fisk 117-73, producing the highest NCAA point total of the night. South Carolina St added another decisive home result with a 94-55 win over Morris College.

IU Indy joined the high-scoring group with a 113-76 win over Miami (OH) - Middletown. Mercer beat Reinhardt 90-53, and Princeton defeated Carnegie Mellon 78-46 in another game defined by a wide scoring gap.

Road teams make their mark

Merrimack Warriors beat Appalachian State 63-49, holding the home team under 50 points. Tennessee State fell 94-64 to Murray State, which produced one of the night’s clearest road results with a 30-point margin.

UTSA Roadrunners also won away from home, beating San Jose State 95-74. UMBC Retrievers added another road win with an 82-54 result at George Mason, holding the home side to 54 points.

Close finishes and competitive pockets

Grambling St. played the tightest game of the night, beating Northern Illinois 89-87. The two-point margin was the only result across the slate decided by fewer than five points.

Queens Royals beat Winthrop 103-98 in a five-point game that stood out as the most competitive high-scoring NCAA matchup. Northern Kentucky also closed out a competitive home win, defeating UTEP 84-76.

High Point rounded out the NCAA home winners with a 72-57 victory over Liberty. The result gave High Point a 15-point margin in one of the lower-scoring home wins on the schedule.
