San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama led the selections for the NBA All-Defensive First Team, earning unanimous recognition for his defensive impact.
Wembanyama was the only player selected unanimously, underscoring his standing among the league’s top defenders. The honor adds to a standout season in which his rim protection, length and versatility made him one of the NBA’s most disruptive defensive players.
First-Team Selections
Joining Wembanyama on the All-Defensive First Team were Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren, Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson, Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert and Boston Celtics guard Derrick White.
The group reflects a mix of interior anchors, perimeter stoppers and versatile defenders. Holmgren joined Wembanyama as part of a new wave of young big men recognized for defensive influence, while Gobert added another All-Defensive honor to his decorated career. Thompson and White rounded out the team with recognition for their work on the wing and at the point of attack.
The NBA’s All-Defensive teams recognize the league’s top performers on that end of the floor, with this year’s First Team led by Wembanyama’s unanimous selection.
