Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said Thursday he doesn’t believe Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball needs to be disciplined any further after being fined for tripping Heat center Bam Adebayo.
Speaking in the wake of the league’s decision, Spoelstra said Ball didn’t need to be “penalized more moving forward,” signaling that Miami is ready to move on from the incident now that punishment has been issued.
Ball, one of Charlotte’s top players, was fined after the trip involving Adebayo, a key piece of Miami’s frontcourt. The fine addressed the play, and Spoelstra’s comments emphasized that he views the matter as settled from the Heat’s perspective.
Moving on
Spoelstra’s stance reflects a focus on keeping attention on basketball rather than escalating the situation beyond the league’s ruling. With the fine already handed down, he indicated there was no need for additional consequences.
