Across the ACB, margins were tight and the road teams made noise. Baskonia escaped San Pablo Burgos 98-97, Basket Zaragoza edged Tenerife 81-80, and Forca Lleida walked into Valencia and left with a 105-100 win. In the SLB, London Lions, Sheffield Sharks, Manchester Basketball and Cheshire Phoenix all protected their home floors.
ACB: Real Madrid survives, Forca Lleida lands a road punch
Real Madrid beat Unicaja 89-87 in the marquee ACB matchup, a two-point result that fit the tone of the league’s Sunday schedule. With three ACB games decided by a single possession and another finishing within five points, the day offered little separation and plenty of late-game tension.
The sharpest road result came from Forca Lleida, which beat Valencia 105-100. Winning away from home while clearing the 100-point mark is a statement in any setting, and doing it against Valencia gives the result immediate weight in the early-season conversation.
Baskonia also handled pressure on the road, beating San Pablo Burgos 98-97. The one-point margin leaves no room for cosmetic interpretation: Baskonia got the result, Burgos pushed it to the edge, and the final possession-level details defined the outcome.
Basket Zaragoza matched that formula with an 81-80 win at Tenerife. In a lower-scoring game than the other ACB thrillers, Zaragoza’s ability to close on the road stood out. Tenerife kept it within a point, but Zaragoza left with the result.
Breogan and Basquet Girona rounded out the ACB winners. Breogan outlasted Joventut Badalona 110-104 in the highest-scoring ACB game of the day, while Basquet Girona beat Murcia 84-77 in a more controlled home win.
SLB: London Lions set the defensive tone
The SLB slate had a different shape: decisive home wins and clearer separation. London Lions delivered the most dominant scoreline, beating Liverpool 78-49. Holding an opponent below 50 points immediately stands out, and the 29-point margin was the largest of the day across both leagues.
Sheffield Sharks were nearly as emphatic, beating Caledonia Gladiators 98-76. The Sharks paired a high-end scoring output with a comfortable margin, giving them one of the cleanest results on the board.
Cheshire Phoenix also cleared the century mark, defeating Leicester Riders 108-94. It was the highest-scoring SLB performance of the day and one of four total teams across the full slate to reach at least 100 points.
Manchester Basketball opened the SLB portion with a 79-67 win over Surrey 89ers. It was not the loudest result of the day, but it fit the broader SLB pattern: home team, double-digit margin, controlled finish.
