Michael Sweetney, a former Georgetown standout who went on to play four seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls, has died. He was 43.
Sweetney built his basketball profile at Georgetown, where he established himself as one of the program’s notable players before beginning his professional career. He later spent time in the NBA with two of the league’s major-market franchises, appearing for the Knicks and Bulls during his four-year run.
His death marks the loss of a player whose career connected one of college basketball’s most recognized programs with two historic NBA organizations.
