Lawrence Tanter, the longtime public address announcer for the Los Angeles Lakers, has died.
Tanter had handled arena microphone duties in Los Angeles since the Lakers’ famed “Showtime” era, becoming a familiar part of the franchise’s game-night presentation for generations of fans.
He retired in June after suffering a stroke, ending a long tenure that stretched across multiple eras of Lakers basketball.
