Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman has received a contract extension that will keep him with the university through 2036.
The new deal also includes a significant raise, reinforcing the school’s commitment to Whitman’s leadership of its athletic department.
Whitman has overseen Illinois athletics during a period in which the department has continued to compete across the Big Ten landscape, including in men’s basketball, one of the university’s most visible programs.
The extension provides long-term stability at the top of Illinois athletics as the department continues to navigate the evolving college sports environment.
