June 14 delivered volume and volatility across the basketball calendar: seven games, three leagues and multiple finishes decided in the final possession range.

The Las Vegas Aces W won the night’s highest-wire act, beating the Minnesota Lynx W 100-97 in a 197-point game. Portland W also escaped with an 84-83 win over the Dallas Wings W, while the New York Knicks took the lone NBA result, 94-90, on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.

WNBA: Aces win shootout, Liberty clamp down

The Aces’ 100-97 win over the Lynx was the headline result of the WNBA slate. In a game with little separation on the scoreboard, Las Vegas reached triple digits and held off Minnesota in the closing margin. The result stood out not just for the total, but for the pressure profile: a three-point game at that scoring level leaves little room for empty possessions.

Portland W delivered the narrowest win of the day, beating the Dallas Wings W 84-83. One-point games are often defined by late-game execution, and Portland’s ability to finish on top gave the WNBA slate another possession-by-possession result.

The New York Liberty W produced the most decisive defensive performance of the day, defeating the Washington Mystics W 86-64. Holding Washington to 64 points created the cleanest margin among the lower-scoring WNBA results, with New York controlling the game without needing a track-meet pace.

The Atlanta Dream W authored one of the day’s clearest road statements, beating the Toronto Tempo W 102-77. Atlanta’s 25-point margin matched the profile of a team that created separation early enough to remove late-game pressure, while also crossing the 100-point threshold.

The Los Angeles Sparks W added another high-scoring road win, defeating the Phoenix Mercury W 111-102. Los Angeles posted the highest team total of the day across all listed games, and the nine-point margin reflected enough offensive cushion to withstand Phoenix’s own 102-point output.

NBA: Knicks edge Spurs on the road

The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in the lone NBA game on the schedule. The four-point margin fit the broader theme of the night: tight windows, late-game leverage and limited separation.

For New York, winning a road game while holding San Antonio to 90 points gave the result a defensive foundation. In a slate where several teams cleared 100, the Knicks’ win came through containment rather than pace.

ACB: Valencia handles Joventut Badalona

In Spain’s ACB, Valencia defeated Joventut Badalona 87-75. The 12-point road win gave Valencia one of the more controlled results of the day, with enough offensive efficiency to create a comfortable final margin while keeping Joventut under 80.
